Over 180 sites using Omnibus solutions
There are over 180 sites using Omnibus solutions, both in the UK and internationally. Clients range in size from small independent operators with under 30 vehicles to large companies within the major UK groups with in excess of 9,000 vehicles. Additionally, Omnibus provides software to a growing number of local authorities, light rail operators, ferry operators and independent consultancies.
Bristol City Council
Bristols’ Public Transport and Park & Ride Group went from looking after 500 bus stops to managing all 1500 stops within the Council’s boundaries. In addition, they were set a key performance target for 70% of all stops to have current passenger information on display within the first year. Bristol City Council already used Omnibus software, and turned to OmniSTOP to help solve the problem. As for efficiencies, whilst the Council trebled the number of stops that they manage, the size of the team has remained stable.
Cardiff Bus (Bws Caerdydd) is the main operator in the Welsh capital. Starting with OmniTIMES and OmniBASE, Cardiff Bus strategically (and over a period of time) put together Omnibus solutions that would maximise the efficient use of its timetable data, and bring further return on investment. Cardiff Bus now uses OmniTIMES, OmniBASE, OmniROTA, CrewPLAN and OmniSTOP to assist in the management of operations.
FirstGroup UK Bus
As the UK’s largest bus operator, First runs 9,000 buses in around 40 major towns and cities, carrying 3 million passengers each year. FirstGroup rolled out OmniTIMES, OmniBASE, OmniMAN and OmniROTA to its operating companies from 2000 to assist with the scheduling of its services. Since then, OmniSTOP has been added, producing the distinctive FirstGroup displays seen around the country.
